In the 2010/2011 season, Dance Works Rotterdam presents the first production by its new artistic director André Gingras. ANATOMICA premieres on Saturday, April 2nd 2011 in the Rotterdamse Schouwburg (NL).
ANATOMICA is an explosive dance performance. With breathtaking leaps through space, twelve dancers show the most extraordinary abilities and profound fragility of the human body.

The Other Body Festival
 From June 25th until June 27th, Melkweg Theater in Amsterdam (NL) organizes a mini festival around André Gingras, with new work, discussions, special events and works in progress by Gingras and guests.
Gingras shows a work in progress of Readymade Dance, a new production in which he enters the boxing ring for a document around 'the Other' in society. Guest choreographer Pere Faura shows Coser y Cantar - the initial walking version for 2 players.
Throughout the three festival days you can enjoy free kickbox lessons and watch the video-installation Les Commerçants by Gingras and Oona Spengler. Check out the full program on www.melkweg.nl.

Readymade Dance in New York
André Gingras is currently an artist in residence at The Watermill Center by Robert Wilson in New York. Toghether with his team, he is working on Readymade Dance.
This new piece, a response to Duchamp's famous readymades, will use found movements from boxing as the basis of its choreographic language. Gingras considers the sport a "readymade" performance language with the essence of theater spectacle: extreme physicality, pathos, and Brechtian commentary.

 Our neighbour Dansateliers presents ONGEPOLIJST (Unpolished), a Dansateliers' festival. Long, short, ready-made, planned, raw, surprising, challenging and provocative performances, previews and presentions, form the menu for ONGEPOLIJST.
Dansateliers puts 13 young dance makers on the map. Among them Erik Kaiel, last year guest choreographer for Dance Works Rotterdam and now to be seen with his new piece Falling Water Top Rock in which company dancer Helene Pieren performs.
Enjoy a weekend of remarkable, playful dance, short dance films and dj ADHDJ.
